Most people are inconvenienced by a power outage. Even in a major city in an emergency like the aftermath of a severe storm; earthquake; or tsunami, power can be out for days. Other people are dependant on that same power for more than light or heat. They rely on electrical devices to do the small things like get in and out of bed — to get in and out of the washroom — or to get in and out of a wheelchair or even bed. More than food can be spoiled by lack of refrigeration. Insulin is something that needs to be kept refrigerated.
It would be nice if everyone who had such a need had a back-up power source that would extend the use of their equipment for a day and even something like a generator that could provide power for longer.
We just had a severe storm and some were without power for two or three days. It started with 750,000 homes and businesses without power for 10+ hours and a large chunk of that population as much as 3 days. There sure was a lot of spoiled food.
I don’t know how many considered the elderly, disabled, and the folks living alone under such circumstance.
Remember those folks during times of emergency.
I hope you enjoy these and I would really appreciate your spreading the word. My stories are spread by word-of-mouth so this is the way that others might also see them.
